The Agile Framework Series: Scrum Master
Servant leadership – it’s the idea that an Agile leader shares power by placing the needs of employees first, empowering individuals to develop and perform as highly as possible. Within Scrum, the Scrum Master is the servant-leader for the Scrum Team. He/she helps those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which aren’t. The Scrum Master helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.
Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? Let us empower you to be a servant leader within Agile.
What to Expect:
The Agile Framework Series: Scrum Master is a two-day course that covers the Agile principles and (empirical) process theory defined in the Scrum Guide that are the underpinnings of the Scrum framework and the role of the Scrum Master within it.
This course is a combination of instruction complemented by individual and team-based exercises.
Using the Scrum principles as a foundation, students are challenged throughout the course to not only become familiar with the process but to better understand what to do and why Agile is essential. Using techniques from “Training from the Back of the Room,” this course is interactive and experiential. Working individually and as a team, students will participate in discussions and exercises and work on real-life cases.
This course covers all the topics that are the basis of Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I), Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) and Professional Scrum Master III (PSM III) certification assessments.
During the intensive two-day program, students will experience why The Framework Series: Scrum Master is the cutting-edge course for impactful Scrum Masters and anyone coaching an Agile software development team towards increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Who Should Attend?
This course is for anyone interested in understanding Agile and using the Scrum framework. It is particularly beneficial for leaders within an organization responsible for coaching, managing, and participating in Scrum teams.
No pre-existing knowledge of Agile or Scrum is required to attend.
“What’s In It For Me?”
Upon the completion of the program, you’ll be ready to become a Scrum Master to fuel powerful Scrum Teams with an arsenal of new Agile skills, including:
- A clear understanding of the rules, roles, and ceremonies of Scrum through the empirical foundation of Scrum
- A deep familiarity of servant-leadership, ready to perform as a Scrum Master for Scrum Teams and stakeholders
- A preparedness to participate as a member of a scrum team
- An ability to foster an increased team effectiveness using Scrum
What is Scrum?
Scrum is an Agile framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value.
Scrum itself is a simple framework for effective team collaboration on complex products. Scrum co-creators Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland have written The Scrum Guide to explain Scrum clearly and succinctly. This Guide contains the definition of Scrum. This definition consists of Scrum’s roles, events, artifacts, and the rules that bind them together.
Scrum is:
- Lightweight
- Simple to understand
- Difficult to master
