As some of you know, I am working with some of the local companies here in Indianapolis to help them as they strive to achieve their business outcomes. In developing some new content for them specifically, I came across this image and had to share. I hear “We are too busy to change!”
I’m guilty of this as well, which is probably why it resonated with me. A while back I bought a laser printer to print out training materials for classes. While it was laborious, it allowed me to work on my materials up to the last minute, and still be able to print out the materials. The process worked ok until I had to start printing in-volume over an extended period. Now, most of you are probably thinking “Duh! Just use Staples!” Yea, I know. It wasn’t so evident when I was in the middle of a stretch of training where the materials were changing. In fact, it took a crisis of running out of toner at 3 AM in the morning with a training class scheduled to start at 9:30 AM.
When we are in over our heads, we don’t consider there might be a different path forward. Yet it is so apparent to those around us. We don’t listen. We keep on struggling because we think it will only be for a short period of time. Once we get through the tough period, we often move on to the next crisis instead of taking a breath, collecting our selves, and implementing continuous improvement items.
In some of the consulting and training I have been doing lately, I have heard a lot of “We’re too busy!”
Are you too busy?
Thanks for coming in today.
Chris
