We are so excited about our partnership with TechPoint for Xtern Bootcamp 2016! If you haven’t heard of Xtern Bootcamp, you should definitely check it out. It’s a highly-competitive 10-week summer internship that attracts tech-skilled college students to Central Indiana. The program includes housing, professional networking, skills development, and community service. This is such an amazing opportunity for college students to learn essential skills and techniques and get inspired for a career in tech and the vibrant scene in Indianapolis.
One of the goals is to help combat the “brain drain” that happens in Indiana – when young talent lives here or attends our fine universities and then leaves to work in other places. It’s quite an amazing accomplishment that before completing their internships, only 22 percent of the students said they would consider a career in Indy, but after their internships, that number rose to 98 percent! Xtern Bootcamp is really about infusing highly qualified students with the skills most relevant to industry need so that they can enter the workforce prepared to add value on day one.
We were honored to spend a few days with the Xtern Bootcamp 2016 interns and teach them some of those relevant skills. We took them through our Scrum Introduction Training Course and introduced them to the framework for managing a process. All 23 of our students passed with flying colors and their excitement and enthusiasm was infectious.
There was so much potential in that room, and we can’t wait to watch them grow and succeed with the new skills that they learned and the friendships that were formed at Xtern Bootcamp 2016. We’re looking forward to seeing what they do in their careers and their communities.
